Playgrounds are an essential piece to every elementary school.  They are places of not only physical exercise, but also development of social skills, friendship building, gardening and imaginative play.  The playground is the only part of a school that can be accessed by children after school hours.  So, it is not just part of the school but also it is part of the community.  The playground is a space used by not only the Montrose Community, but the Bexley community at large.

Much of the current playground equipment is in need of repair or replacement.  Many of the pieces are no longerIn response, a group of parent formed a committee called the Montrose Playground Project.  The committee is tackling the design, fundraising, and marketing.  While the school district is responsible for the maintenance of the playground and equipment, the purchase of equipment is up to the Parent Teacher Organization.

A capital fundraising campaign has begun and donations can be made payable to Montrose Playground Project.   The Bexley Education Foundation is assisting with the accounting portion of the project.  As a result, all donations are tax deductible.
